The Albuquerque Metropolitan Statistical Area is a federally-designated metropolitan area in central New Mexico that covers four counties – Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, and Valencia. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 729,649. The July 1, 2008 MSA population was estimated at 845,913 by the United States Census Bureau‘s Population Estimates Program.
